Hey to everybody on railUKforums.
I recently went for my assessment for Trainee Train Driver at LOROL and unfortunately I failed.
I'm personally disappointed with this but I intend to work harder, however guys and gals... just a quick question.
I have been hearing that you will no longer be able to apply for the Train Driver position if you fail the assessment
process twice, however the Train Driver assessment was split up into 3 parts:
part 1 - Fault Finding test & concentration (dot) test. if passed both of these, then onto...
part 2 - TRP 1 & 2 , reaction test. If passed then...
Part 3 - Manager's Interview
all parts are on different days.
Some guys in the assessment centre, only took one test, as they had passed other assessment.
I failed the first part and not too sure which 1 or both I failed. Will find out tomorrow and post it, but my argument is
if I get another Train Driver opportunity and pass all Fault Finding test, Concentration & reaction test but failed the
TRP 1 & 2, is that the end for me in becoming a driver? The email I received from LOROL sounds like I have only
one chance left.
Technically, I know I failed the 1st part but should it apply to the rest as I did not take them?
I thought it shouldn't apply for the other parts as I never had a 2nd opportunity
to take them. I'm not making any excuses, just looking at it in a fair point of view.
I have been reading in forums that most of the Train Driver Assessments runs all 4 assessments and the interview all in one day.
Because if that's the case, I want to take this further.
My knowledge in the railway industry is limited but for what I can see they try to keep the assessment standardised
so why is LOROL splitting up these sections into parts, whereas most other TOC do them all in one day.
Personally, I'd rather take my chances and go for all 4 and Interview, and given another opportunity to retake the ones I failed.
I feel like its kind of like taking my GCSE's and failing maths for instance and therefore for failing it, I fail English, Science, IT, PE, etc... LOL
Apologies for the long query, but I have been restless and confused to how I failed the 1st part
Thank you guys and gals, much appreciated if anybody can help as I'm keen to know where I stand and course of action to take.
Thanks again.
