I can guarantee that it won't. Unless we want to stop running trains on Monday afternoons for maintenance.

My guess is that it will be Highbury to New Cross / New Cross Gate only.

I highly doubt this will come to fruition. If it does I'll eat my BR1 Key! You would end up with a lot more weekend closures to catch up with maintenance, especially if it's on the East London Line! There's a possession every night from Highbury to New Cross Gate as it is.

All night running on LO is to be on "key routes" - what these are however I have not seen defined. All night running on DLR "key routes" is also proposed at some stage - I think from 2021.

The long term economic plan to be announced today by the Chancellor will reportedly include 24hr weekend running on remaining part of LU network and DLR by 2021 and LO by 2017. Chancellor and Mayor have tweeted photos visting maintenance crews at Victoria..

I presume there is still lots of freight using the North London on weekday nights so that would be bottom of the list. Ironically running 24hr on that route would probably be easier in the week than at weekends.

Bits that have no freight service could in principle run all night at weekends, with weekday nights giving sufficient engineering access. This could be the ELL as mentioned, perhaps round to Clapham Junction, maybe West Croydon but perhaps not the stops in between so they can run fast line if the slows are closed. In principle this could work on the Watford DC lines but as Watford is outside Greater London they might not do that.

The new 24 hour Overground route will cover the East London Line with services from Dalston Junction or Highbury & Islington to New Cross Gate supporting the Shoreditch area, while the new DLR routes will integrate with the Tube services operating at the same time.

I think it's a bit more than half and isn't sub surface planned to go 24 hour at a later date?

People on the Sydenham corridor are not going to be happy with this! However, people in South London would rather trains over Network Rail lines into Charing Cross & Waterloo (where all Night Buses go) than flipping Highbury...

Still good on them for doing something Thameslink has done for years.

That's what i'd like, would've missed the last one (23:51) from Blackhorse Rd if i carried on the vic line northbound. A couple of last extras would help on this and the NLL.

DLR key routes are probably Bank - Lewisham, Stratford - Lewisham and Bank - Woolwich.

If 24hr Thameslink trains all where sent on the Sydenham corridor from 2018 and called at NXG, Brockley, Honor Oak, Forest Hill, Sydenham, Penge W, Anerley and Norwood Jun people could easily change trains at NXG. If they can manage 24hr north of St Pancras why can't they south of London Bridge?

Thameslink will presumably still have the option of diversionary routes which I presume will be via Tulse Hill from 2018 so they won't want to specify lots of stops they might not be able to call at.

Some TL service will apparently stop at Norwood Junction but generally won't stop anywhere else.

You might be pleasantly surprised, I've often used late night trains and buses in London and they can be surprisingly civilised, certainly not as bad as school chucking out time

It will provide good connections with quite a few night bus routes though and is a step in the right direction.

What happens on Crossrail will be interesting to see.
