LOROL NXG information

I've been given the chance to work at LOROL starting 11th May, moving from SWT as a Commercial Guard. I have trawled through the search function and found plenty of useful info about the NXG depot but I have a few more specific questions:

1)Is there a Boxing Day service?
2)What routes do NXG sign? Is it ELL exclusively?
3)Is there much overtime work available? And what's the overtime rate?
4)What is the shortest/longest turns you have?
5)How long are your cover turns? (Ours are 10hrs!)
6)Do you cross cover other depots work?
7)Do you do any leafall/de-icing/MPV work?

1. No there isn't. I can imagine TfL will be trying to get one but it will be a struggle. There is sometimes volunteers requested to work Boxing Day night just to help do some shunting and getting service ready for next day.
2. Highbury & Islington to New Cross, Crystal Palace, West Croydon, Clapham Junction and Battersea Park, New Cross Gate Depot, Silwood Sidings, Up Sussex Loop. There is talk of us soon signing up to South Bermondsey in the future and Selhurst Fork Arrival, but not sure what will come of those.
3. Rest Day Working and Overtime is paid at flat rate. You can usually get a fair bit of RDW at the moment as still recruiting for more drivers.
4. Shortest booked turn is 6hrs. Longest is 9hr 05.
5. Cover turns are 8 hours. Spare turns are 9h 30.
6. No we don't anymore.
7. We have a few night turns that sometimes require a few deicing runs in the morning but not often. Otherwise deicing is done in service.

TfL are pushing for services to be run on Boxing Day although I doubt this will occur before the end of the existing concession. This would not be swallowed to easily by drivers if it was introduced on anything but a voluntary working basis.

Also be aware that it has already been 'announced' by the mayor that night services will run from 2017 - http://www.mayorwatch.co.uk/all-night-tube-service-to-be-extended-to-overground-and-dlr/ LOROL management have told staff that there has been no such approach, but again this would come as part of the new concession.

Yeah I was aware of the 24hr ops. Maybe that's a contributing factor to the recruitment drive.

Have you got many at yours looking to transfer to Chingford should they go on the same T&C as yourselves in the future.

Not that I know of. I haven't heard anyone mentioning it, but that's just at NXG depot. Those that work at Stratford depot might do.

What is LOROL's reasoning for looking to recruit 18 more trainees at NXG depot, is it this 24hr Boris business.

Just short of drivers, had quite a few people move on, few more positions were required when Silwood Sidings opened as there were more diagrams.

The weekend 24 hour running will only come in to effect with the next concession, TfL haven't even spoken to LOROL about it but more drivers will have to be recruited for that for sure, if it *actually* happens. Personally, I don't think it will.

Sorry skoodle do NXG get AC PTS at all I still have my competency in DC but will have to re do as part of the course.

I have heard a couple of drivers mention it and there are one or two who live in the Chingford area, but there are likely to be far more on the NLL

TfL haven't even spoken to LOROL about it but more drivers will have to be recruited for that for sure, if it *actually* happens. Personally, I don't think it will.

Whilst the first part of that is true I reckon it will happen - just a few trains per hour running down to NXG. Drivers can't argue against it because we already have some night diagrams even though they are rarely worked except for winter. We can make a case about fatigue given the much more intensive working that has been happening recently.

PTS is covered very early in training and it covers both AC and DC. We run in parallel with AC lines from the Dalston curve through to Highbury so have to be competent for any eventuality.

It's just as well I am being retrained in PTS my rules are due in June!
