Hi all,

What is the difference between TfL staff oysters issued by TfL/LU and staff oysters issued by LOROL/MTR Crossrail. For example do you they look and appear exactly the same, in terms of colour and details, and is their validity increased on NR Services.
I have heard LOROL staff oysters are valid between Stratford & Shenfield on greater Anglia services whereas TfL/LU staff oysters are not?

Many thanks

Just to say, LOROL is no longer - in November 2016, Arriva Rail London took over operating the London Overground Concession (having previously held a 50% stake in LOROL, with MTR holding the other 50% - the two companies decided to end their joint venture and go their own ways).

At the time of the transfer, it was agreed that Greater Anglia, LOROL (now ARL) and MTR Crossrail staff would accept each others passes on any trains between Liverpool Street and Enfield/Cheshunt/Chingford/Shenfield.

They look exactly the same, however, as an example, as I work for MTR I need to produce both my TfL Staff Oyster Pass and my MTR ID card for it to be valid between Stratford and Shenfield on the GA fast trains. I also carry a copy of the agreement letter just in case I get any questions from the ticket inspectors.

TfL Oyster Cards also do not operate the barriers at Shenfield which is a bit annoying.

Do they have the interavailability on the national rail routes that tfl passes have (Eg euston to wfj, Kentish town to elephant and castle)

Yes they all have exactly the same validity and look the same. Bus operators have different passes and they are not valid on any NR services (except LO and XR).

I find that quite interesting because in effect the relation ship between LO/XR staff and tfl staff is the same as between buses and tfl staff. I guess tfl must have negotiated LO and xr rail services to be included in the interavailability arrangements. Incidentally if you work for tfl through an agency you get an yellow contractor card that is not valid on aby interavailable routes.
