LORAM Caroline Testing 2024

Hello everyone,

I have noticed that the inspection saloon 'Caroline' (usually paired with 37418) has not been out that much this year compared to other years, especially in the York area - where it is usually supposed to be testing a few times every year but has only got to York once so far this year. I understand that Loram have started doing some more tests with Caroline but still few in number.

Can anyone tell me why this is or, when Caroline is next due to test around York or ECML?

It has worked to Bletchley this week and was also out on the WCML. It is not a test train so does not visit the same areas like a Network Rail test does. It is for inspecting not testing.

It doesn't do "testing" it does viewing ;)

it is a VIP inspection saloon. It has its own wiki page you can search out which gives some of the history of the vehicle.

It was out in the WCML last week but had its time cut short after it failed near Crewe and was dragged to Derby RTC by 37254

I am confident that Caroline is supposed to visit York at least a couple of times every year... there's videos dating back to 2020 of it at York. It would be strange for it to suddenly stop however I'm not saying its impossible!

It's used as and when required. If it's not required to visit York it won't.
