Sometimes there's a loophole in validity of a ticket and it's not necessarily a good idea to promote it on here. But with this one, I don't think you could push the boundary to use the full stated validity. Even through National Rail is the definitive authority on validity of tickets.

I assume the OP is talking about "Denby Dale" being in the list of valid stations !

It doesn't say there's an operator-based restriction either to be fair, indeed it's strongly hinted there isn't one here:

Unlimited off-peak travel for one day between Reading, Guildford and Redhill.

Available after 0930 (Monday-Fridays) or when Off-Peak Day Return is valid (whichever is earlier.)

Available all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Only available within the area shown on the map.

If it went to Court, would it not be obvious that there are discrepancies in the conditions, and that it would be determined that Denby Dale could not possibly be in North Downs. I don't think it would turn out very well if you tried to use it to Denby Dale.

But is it possible to travel from Denby Dale to other valid stations without leaving the zone of validity? I don't think so.

A rover ticket is a zonal ticket that all travel must be totally within the zonal coverage.

Is the map published anywhere? (Can anyone supply or point at it?) What does it show? If Denby Dale is not within the area shown on the map, then it would be difficult to argue that the ticket is valid there.

But on the other hand, if there is no map, then I would be inclined to say that the list of stations does define the area, and so Denby Dale is included, so the ticket is valid there. But deciding what route is valid to reach any of the other stations is going to be an interesting exercise...

Is there just one station shown in the wrong area, and no other adjacent stations, then there wouldn't be any use for it (unless you are arguing for its use as a platform ticket )

I notice @Starmill also identified this line. Because Denby Dale is not between Reading, Guildford and Redhill under anyone's definition the use of the ticket at Denby Dale would fail to satisfy even the most generous of geographers. Had the details section not been there then I guess you could argue Denby Dale was in the list of valid stations.

It would be good to see someone try to argue Denby Dale though.
