Most of us will have seen these statuesque characters in and around tourist spots. They are very impressive and their presentations
have improved considerably over the years.
They have now introduced excellent impressions of being suspended in mid air. No matter how close you look or walk around them it
is difficult to see how it is done. it looks very impressive.
The first one here I came across in Buchannan Street, Glasgow back in April. This guy really looks like a real statue. The colouring is brilliant.
This and the following photos were taken at Covant Garden, London back in September. This one wasn't too impressive but still good.
The silver lady was very good. However, you could easily picture her sitting on a high stool. The dress is very good.
This rather tall impression of the small Star War character was the first to make me wonder how it is done. I don't particularly like this
one but it is a good impression of suspension. He appears to be holding himself up only by his hand on the staff.
This and the following golden statues really impressed me. I walked around these a couple of times and still couldn't see how it was done.
This was my real favourite. A very unusual character and you can see that a lot of work and thought has gone into it.
No matter how it is done it certain takes a bit of stamina to sit in those positions for long periods. Whatever they are sitting on must be
quite a small area.
It would seem that they have to stay there for the duration as the moment they move the illusion will be spoiled and show how it is done
