Apologies if this has been answered before but where are the locations in the UK where long stretches of jointed track still exist with a high line speed please ?
Oddly it doesn't quite sound like traditional jointed track - I don't know if this is because of the stock that goes over it or something else, but it doesn't seem to have the distinctive "traditional" bah-dum, bah-dum sound (to me at least). Unless I'm going crazy. Perhaps it's just because of the speed of the trains, the sounds blur together or something?

I've a vague idea that the rail lengths are different to the normal 60ft on stretches of the Salisbury line, or else laid with the joints staggered. Can't find a reference though.
