I’ve been looking back at old threads from the general discussion forum and some are actually pretty funny! Some are funny because of the content,
some have weird titles, etc.

What are “p-ways”? I’ve seen those in titles a lot!

FGW wins franchise because of Doctor Who? What???

RailUGay? Huh? What the heck is that when it’s at home!

As for this, I don’t understand it at all! https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/hows-about-this-for-something-wierd.499/[/QUOTE]

Can someone explain what all of these weird threads are and why they’re on here haha? I mean, “p-ways” “RailUGay” it’s all a bit weird isn’t it?

:D Z

P-way in rail terms stands for Permanent way; though having had a look through that thread I doubt that's what it means there!

Oh I see.

What is “RailUGay” though?
And why did FGW win the franchise because of Doctor Who (which I always hated, but I know the son of one of the doctors)

I have no idea what either of them are meant to mean (the first one, despite containing the word "rail" I doubt is actually rail related)!

RailUGay I think was simply a private section of this forum for people who fitted that criteria, though one of the older members may be able to clarify.

I never heard about it (until now).

DanNCL and TheAdelante may be new but I’ve been on the forum for a year now and have posted 1,700 comments, I’m hardly a newbie! Neither are they really, I class newbies as those who have been on the forum less than a month or two!

You mean a private section for gay people? Seems a bit segregating, doesn’t it?

I've been on here since July, so more than a month or two, more like 5!

Say what you like, you Johnny Come Lately. Anyone who joined after 2012 or so is a newbie to me! ;) As I've since said to Yorksrob, that RailUGay thing was a misinterpretation on my behalf.

Anyway, here's another thread from the days of old. Probably my favourite one ever https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/london-midland-new-rolling-stock-sort-of.39960/

My name is not Johnny. Nothing like it. ;) None of the letters in “Johnny” are even in my first name!

Was there a LM 90 after all?

Misinterpretation. Oh. I was gonna say, it sounded a little prejudice to straight people there

I think RailUGay was a thing to find out which forum members were gay.

Bit weird, but um, mystery solved.

Oh haha. Was it a wind up then?

I’m so confused! What with Doctor Who and Gay only Threads and Green Pretendodesiros that turn out to be fictional!

In my opinion, the best thread ever was the one that arose from the washout at Dawlish in 2014 and looked at potential options for avoiding similar situations in future.

That’s precisely why it made me chuckle!

Didn't sign up until about 12 months ago but I've been lurking every now and again since about 2009, some cracking threads on here.

Why the interest in peoples sexuality though? I guess it's just curiosity :)

I think pretty much everyone gets curious about things like that to be fair!
