If anyone collected a rather expensive ticket (over £100) from Carlisle ToD around midday, for travel tomorrow, they left the ticket and collection slip in the machine.

It is with the ticket counter staff.

I've edited my post to clarify this. The primary retailer is identifiable from this.

The Ticket on Departure Collection of Ticket reference should give a good indication
Quite often when I issue TODs on my ticket office machine, it doesn't have an actual name and address, simply saying "Customer" instead.

What is CTR?
CTR- Customer Transaction Reference, mix of 8 letters and numbers. Paper CCST (Credit Card Sized Ticket) print the selling company code next to this reference, in this example 1750 is the Cross Country website which is operated by Trainline.

I've not seen that information before when recalling the reference number.
If the customer is a registered user of the online seller names, addresses and even phone numbers can be seen. "Customer" and nothing else is what shows when a "guest" checkout is used. The seller will have more details.

I was wondering how it turned out for the unfortunate ticket buyer. If he'd shown the purchase confirmation email to the guard might he have been allowed to travel? I didn't really notice any details, once I'd seen the price and that it was dated for the following day I panicked and went straight to the counter, stupidly thinking they might have some way of locating the owner. If he'd said "I'm almost sure I left it in the machine now I think about it" might the guard have phoned through to see if it had been handed in?
