Longer wait at Lostock Hall than Preston

On BPS-CNE services and return, they wait for 5 mins at LOS but only wait 2 mins at Preston. This really baffles me... does anyone know why this is?

Pathing? Perhaps they need to get it out of Preston for other services but don't want it in Blackburn or elsewhere before a certain time where It may clash with another path.

Checking the return, it doesn't seem to stop for that long. I wish these services happened 7 days a week as well, or at least Mon-Sat, then as far as Preston on Sundays.

Indeed. The reason for the extended dwell times on Sunday Blackpool South to Colne services at Lostock Hall, is in order to give the Conductor enough time to lock out of use the rear unit. This is because most platforms between Lostock Hall can't accommodate 4 carriages and the units don't have Selective Door Opening.

This also occurs every day (apart from Sundays, how long is it since Northern ran trains on the Clitheroe line on Sundays?!) at Ramsgreave and Wilpshire on the Clitheroe line, with the majority of services booked for 4 cars and platforms north of Wilpshire not being long enough.

For the Clitheroe line, the train should divide snd the rear should terminate at Blackburn, and for Blackpool South to Colne, the rear should terminate at Preston

Why? Who would shunt the units if needed?
