Longbeck to Chester-Le-Street

Hi,

I am planning on traveling between LGK and CLS on the 28th, 29th, 30th and 1st of June/July to take in some cricket. I would be needing to arrive into CLS by around 1030 and leaving around 1830, and need flexability as I may be arriving later or leaving earlier than those times. I was wondering if the wonderful ticketing experts on here could advise me as to the cheapest way of doing this. I have a 16-25 Railcard.

Currently the cheapest way I have found is to buy a 7Day season ticket between LGK-Darlington and then 4 Anytime returns between DAR and CLS. Which comes to a grand total of £48.90. Does anyone have anyother suggestions or have I found the cheapest way already?

Did you take the minimum fare into account when looking at the cost of the anytime returns? Your railcard won't be any use here before 10am, apart from in July, when the minimum fare doesn't apply.

The North Country 4 in 8 days Rover is £47.50; valid from 08:45 Mon-Fri, which may be too late for you.
Just buying anytime returns would be cheaper.

Hmm even without a railcard the anytime day return between DAR and CLS is only £5.30 which x4 is £21.20 which I'm not too fussed paying. The Rover is certainly interesting but would mean not getting to CLS untill 10:56 which is later than I would like really and is only £1 cheaper than my current plan anyway.

As an standard day return from Longbeck to Chester-le-Street is £12-80. For the days in June this will cost £12 with a railcard and for the first of July £8-45. Total £44-45. Why do you want to pay more by splitting tickets.

Gah, because National Rail’s website is a pile of junk. It doesn’t show any returns being available for LGK – CLS at the time I want. However having checked on a TOC website I now see that in fact there is a return ticket for that journey. Teach me to rely on National Rail for tickets and well anything really! Thanks collybs, 4 returns it is then!

Was looking at the prices for the Tyne and Tees Day Ranger for this but due to the timings you need it is not feasible.
