This is a long shot, a very long shot, buts it’s worth a try.

Hickleton Main Colliery. Can anyone recall what the last NCB shunting locomotive to leave the site was? Or just any information about the shunters that were based there?

Another very long shot. In the mid eighties, there was often a locomotive stabled in the sidings at Hickleton Junction, close to the signal box. If memory serves, this was a glass 37, or maybe even a 40. Was this the same locomotive that had been left there to watch the weeds grow, or was it a stabling point for a regular operation.

I have wondered about these for most of my life, and this seems like the best place to ask.
