makes me sad seeing them all like that, surely spares of some could bring a couple of 87's back to mainline running. Same with everything else instead of letting rot just strip for spares?

But they wouldn't be there in that condition if we needed them. Where would we use the Class 87s, and for what?

Never been to LM and doubt ill ever go, all those locos I once saw powering in and out of New Street now left to rot, count me out, I want to remember them for what they were not what they are now

Money would be the main problem also locos would only be able to work trains on a few routes which would soon lose appeal thus giving limited revenue opportunity's for tour operator's nostalgia is wounder full but expensive to maintain:cry:The problem with preservation apart from cost is there are no electrified lines to run them on.

Not everything can be salvaged, some stuff isnt worth buying as its just beyond all help, in this case they should be purcheased for spares not because theres a 1% chance of it working again
