Yes I know that Stourbridge Town branch is shorter but it is connected directly to other lines.
I'm not sure there is a connection between the Stourbridge Town branch and the NR now. :)

Didn't one of the safety considerations of it's conversion to PPM operation require a complete severance of the branch from NR metals to prevent any possibility of a collision between NR rolling stock and the PPM? :?:
(As the PPM is a very light rail vehicle, it wouldn't fair well in an impact with any mainline NR stock. If it could, I daresay we would've seen them starting to replace Pacers and 153s on some lines by now. :))

Longest stretch of track in Wales without a station is the 22 miles between Caersws and Machynlleth.

On a Friday afternoon (I think it was in 2008) I caught a non stop FGW from Taunton to Padington

if the Caledonian Sleeper is diverted via the east cost line it runs none stop between london euston and edinburgh waverley
