After a little bit of uncertainty as to where we're headed over the past few months (those who have been keeping up will understand), the Epping Ongar Railway is now on a major recruitment drive to find volunteers for a possible reopening next year.
We're looking for track workers especially as our line is in quite a state in some places (!) along with engineers in general but anyone who can lend a hand in any way possible is more than welcome. Armchair members, you can make a contribution too. By becoming a member you get a say in the running of the EOR Volunteer Society and newsletters four times a year.
There are great opportunities for advancement as well as inter-departmental transfers and I make the claim that on very few other heritage railways will you be promoted as quickly as at EOR. Prior experience is welcomed but full training will be given to those who are enthusiastic but haven't taken part before, as was my situation when I joined.
Even if you're not interested, if you know someone who may be please direct them to www.eorailway.co.uk to find out more. The more volunteers we get the sooner we can reopen, with STEAM!!!
Hope the blatant advertising doesn't offend but it's cheap and effective round 'ere.
Any questions, feel free to post here or e-mail to eoryme@googlemail.com
Thanks,
Steve
