not sure if it’s the right forum but can anyone tell me the most westerly station on the GWR mainline that falls into a London travel card?
I can see zone 6, but not sure if any further zones apply?

You can get an out boundary Travelcard from Penzance.

Zones 7-9 are out-boundary Zones; none of the GWR stations are within these zones.

The furthest Zone 6 station west of Paddington is West Drayton.

I’ve got a freedom of solent & Severn which gets me to Swindon and I’m going to get a travel card for London to dome Lner stuff etc - just need to bridge the gap between Swindon and Paddington as cheaply as possible!

I’ve also got a network railcard so I think I might do a Thames Branches Day Ranger as that’s only £14 - just need to then do Swindon - reading

A Super Off Peak Travelcard from Swindon to Zones 1-6 is not cheap at £54.10 http://www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=SWI&dest=0035&tkt=STO

Swindon to Reading is presumably considered by GWR to be too far for a day trip, so there are no day returns. It is notoriously expensive. The cheapest through fare is the Super Off Peak Return priced at £26.50: http://www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=SWI&dest=RDG&grpd=0403&tkt=SSR

But the cheapest combination may be a return from Swindon to Didcot, and a Travelcard from Didcot to Swindon. Sites such as Trainsplit should be able to calculate this for you. (Plan a journey to somewhere like Harrow-on-the-Hill to get Travelcard fares)

Do you actually need a Travelcard though? It's unclear what you may need one for. If "Lner stuff" means journeys on LNER, it will be no use.

Thanks Yorkie - I'm planning on getting around some London terminus ( so will need the travel card for underground ) also plan on going on some 313s out of Moorgate to Finsbury Park and then some photos there.
Have about 3/4 hour in the city.

Do you really mean 3/4 hour, i.e. 45 minutes, or 3-4 hours which is a bit more useful?
