Hello experts,

what would be the best option to travel within London for a family (2 adults, 2 children under 10) for a week? Zones required are 1 and 2, we also have a Family & Friends railcard.

Based on my research, there are the following options:

1) parents use contactless, kids travel free (up to £7.70/adult per day but could be less)

2) parents buy 7-day travelcards, kids travel free (£38.40/adult for the whole week)

3) parents buy Day Off-Peak travelcards with railcard discounts (£9.50/adult per day), do the kids need their own travelcards in this case (£2.70/kid per day) or not?

Is my understanding correct that the kids indeed travel free in the first two scenarios, and they don’t require Oyster zip cards? If so, option 2 seems like a no brainer (and the railcard seems to be quite useless).

Many thanks for your help!

Thanks very much for the map! The week starts on a Saturday so I think we’ll be best off with a 7-day Travelcard.
