Hello I'm new to the whole train spotting and I got a few books to get me going but none have the listing of London Underground Stock numbers can anyone help me in finding this information?

Many thanks

There is this being circulated on the internet recently:

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/88432/response/225202/attach/3/Car numbers.pdf

But it's not quite accurate or up to date, particularly with regard to service stock. The passenger fleet bits seem to be more or less OK though.

One obvious inaccuracy with the passenger fleet list is that most of the Jubilee line 1996 stock is missing (should go up to 96126). I presume the S stock listed is those in service at the time the list was compiled ?

The AEB Locomotives/coaching stock and unit combined book includes LUL passenger stock (well it did in 2010 which is my latest version).

Also the ICRS (Inter City Railway Society) Pocket datafile book also usually has LUL stock in it but the last one I purchased had some mistakes in it.

Capital Transport Publishing used to do a good Underground fleet book, but I don't know if they still do it or when the last one was.

If that is the one by Brian Hardy then the last one that I am aware of is the 2002 edition - there were rumours that a new version was being produced last year but I have not heard anymore since then.

There is a Tubegroup on Yahoo Groups and if you join that and look at files you will find one that shows a LUL stock listing in Excel format.

It's later this year that the new book is expected to be out.

The list on Tubegroup is the one I have posted above. ( 12CSVT - yes, the S Stock would have been as at the date that list was compiled, but as I pointed out there are a number of inaccuracies and outdated details... )

If you got that list from Tubegroup then it is not the same one that is on there at the moment which is dated 15.03.11

This one does only contains passenger stock.

I always use "British Locomotives, Multiple Units and Coaching Stock" published by Mark and Barry Gardener. It has the lot in it, all LUL stock and other Metro systems from the UK plus all BR stock and is very accurate. If you want one contact,
