London Underground - travel advice needed

hey! I really need help, I am traveling using the underground for the first time at the end of the month and I can't find anyone to help me. I am needing to go from London Paddington to Kings Cross station but I'm not sure where I need to go, which line I need to take, and what platform to be at. really stressed as I like to know my route ahead of time so I don't have to rush around when I'm there. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance

From Paddington you can take the Hammersmith & City or Circle Line to Kings Cross.

This is a direct route and you won't have to change trains.

You can reach the platform for the Hammersmith & City line by following the signs for the taxi rank and then continuing on a little further, or by the pedestrian footbridge which crosses the platforms about half way along.

You can pay for the tube pay tapping a contactless bank card on the yellow reader at the entrance to the platforms, which saves having to worry about having the correct change or buying the correct ticket.

There are lifts to the platform if youhave mobility issues or luggage.

What overall journey are you making and do you already have a ticket?

If travelling from Paddington to Kings Cross is part of a longer journey (e.g. Reading to Stevenage) then it's highly likely that your ticket will include the price of the underground journey. If you can let us know this along with details of any ticket you already have we can let you know.

I am traveling from down south and the underground is included in my ticket. I have a tube ticket from Paddington to Kings Cross. Just need to know how to get from point A to point B. I think I need to go on platform 14 on the underground, but not sure!

Upon arrival at Paddington just follow the signs to the Hammersmith & City Line. Take the first eastbound train (which could be a circle line train - it doesn't matter), Kings Cross St Pancras is about a 12 minute ride once on the train.

The Hammersmith & City Line isn't really underground, it uses full size air conditioned trains.

Just because no-one has said this explicitly: Unlike at most other Underground stations, at Paddington you enter the Underground at different gatelines depending on which line you want, so you have to make sure to follow the Underground signage for the Hammersmith&City Line (and Circle Line via King's Cross) specifically, and not the Underground signage for Bakerloo and District (and Circle via Victoria) Lines. This Google Image search for "Paddington Hammersmith Bakerloo District signage" shows the various signage you might encounter.

(Similarly, if you'll be coming back the same way, at King's Cross you would follow generic "Underground" signs to get downstairs first and then look for the "Circle, Hammersmith&City and Metropolitan" gateline to take a Circle or Hammersmith&City train back to Paddington.)

No, it's that the correct Underground entrance is near the National Rail Platform 14. (The number of the Underground platform is 16, but it is probably better known as the Hammersmith&City Line Eastbound Platform. I don't think you'd see any reference to the platform number 16 until you've entered the correct Underground gateline.)
