London Underground Simulator

Went shopping at Bluewater Kent earlier with the wife and popped into game. There I purchased a new rail sim called London Underground Simulator Circle Line, part3 of the world of subways range. Pictures on the cover looked good and for £20 I thought I'd give it a punt. Wow, fantastic. Really good graphics.
Has anyone else got this and if so, what did you think of it. If you haven't got it, at £20 it is worth the money.

It's a very well polished game, don't get me wrong, but for a lot of computers the graphical capabilities are way in advance of the average processor. Many forum members (including myself) have had the same expierence. Though on the plus side, the graphics are wonderful, the realism is excellent and if you can run it, you will enjoy it.

This game does look fantastic, but not one of my computers could cope with it. Such a shame, as I've always wanted a really decent LU simulator.

It is a very good game already, very realistic and some nice touches such as the opening manually cab door, programming the automated announcements and the rain effects on the windows. Well worth the money.
As mentioned earlier, the drawback to the game is the fact that you need a VERY powerful computer to run it well.

Yep you really need a very powerful computer to run WOS.
If you like buses, there's a fantastic game that doesn't require as much power from your computer: OMSI.

I'd advise some caution there, with OMSI. I think they've been a little optimistic with their minimum system requirements. My computer met all of them but the game wouldn't function even on the most minimal settings. I'm not saying you need a super computer, but certainly one that exceeds their minimum specs. If it had've worked, I'm sure it would have been great.

OMSI does look rather good, but I already have AVP, Assasins Creed, UK Truck Simulator, Railworks, DRIV3R and Trainz all kitted up on my current laptop, none of which will be uninstalled any time soon!

I looked on amazon and there is nothing really high spec needed there. It's just laptops still aren't designed for proper gaming.

Yeah that's true but most OMSI maps work at a reasonable FPS except huge maps like Berlin (though Berlin-Spandau is acceptable on my computer).

I'd get this game if it wasn't for the system requirements, my PC is only 1.3GHz, & doesn't have the Graphics Card compatibility either.

I'd still give it an install and see how it runs. I've installed and played many games that were supposedly "not compatible". However, WOS is quite a resource hog. I don't have a super computer, but it seems to be pretty good. It handles WOS-3 well, although I turn up the case fans to give extra cooling for the graphics card.

I still don't understand people and their computers.
I spend probably around £400 on mine (£500 if you include the new case). You should think about saving some money every month till you get to that price, but then you would need to have basic knowledge on how to build computers using the parts. Picking one pre-built from PC world will always have you spending £200 extra just because it's pre built.

No surprise I know before someone jumps at me to tell me what did I expect. Glad to see it let me at least install it despite not meeting the minimun spec.

Would be an excellent game otherwise! Let's hope they do more and get more realistic with their pc specs.

Might consider a pc separate from my mac just to play railway games on.

I've been considering building myself a computer for railway and other games - to replace an ancient desktop, purchased from Dell some years go. This would run Railworks 2 but not TS2012.

I discovered the other day that someone had created a port to allow Railworks 2 to run on Mac, apparently well. Sadly this isn't compatible with TS2012 (Railworks 3) as it requires .Net 4 which isn't supported yet.

I bought it last week and it only just runs on my 2.9Ghz dual core AMD. I had to go out and buy a graphics card before I could get it to work at all.

It took me a long time to work out how to get the train to move, because I'm not familiar with the controls. I'm not bored with it yet, but when I am, I'll put it on ebay.

Steam are slowly moving to mac so hopefully they will port Railworks proper.
I'm thinking of doing the same to be honest problem is justifying the cost for something that's not got a practical purpose (To some people.).

RW on a mac is nowt to do with steam. They just distribute it. You should get in touch with RSC and suggest they, as developers, consider porting it across.

Could you not though use bootcamp and a windows license to avoid an extra pc?

Yeah I know, didn't think that one through.
Already am using bootcamp,it's not very good, lags and sends the temperature through the roof on my mac.
Have to run railworks on lowest settings to make it work.

In other news I have managed to get the game works at a fairly ok performance level. I turned absolutely all the settings to the lowest quality. Still jumps about making stopping at a station a nightmare. However all in all a good game otherwise.

Been playing this for a while now and although I can get it to run on my old system, it does lag a little.
Old System.
AMD Athlon 64 dual core 2.6ghz processor.
Nvidia Geoforce 8500gt graphics card
4gig of ddr2 ram.

Wifes christmas present to me this year.
New System
AMD Phenom II quad core 960T 3.00ghz
Radeon HD6850 1024mb graphice card
8gig ddr3 ram

Hi all today I bought London Underground Simulator from GAME, however I installed it, typed in my registration key but after downloading it, it failed to go to Aerosoft Launcher for Online Registration, so from the desk top I clicked on World Of Subways 3 it says activation check failed , I tried clicking Aerosoft Launcher it said Aero Launcher has stopped running. Can anyone please help?

What about uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher ?
I must say it's a strange set up the way you're supposed to activate this. I seem to remember having to lie on the initial registration before an option appeared for the actual game I had (World Of Subways 3). In the first list that appeared, there was no mention of it, so I added one that was on the list, just to get me to the next stage. The launcher then progressed to another list which did have World Of Subways 3 on it.

I wouldn't suggest very powerful at all.
You need a mid to high-end PC which you can build for around £500 these days. Less if you use hard drives, DVD drives from your old computer.

I am surprised at the amount of people who have what is considered these days as low-end computers, even more so those people who try and run graphically detailed games on laptops.

You should look at replacing a computer every 2-3 years.
