Congratulations.
I am September 4th offer as well but I am night tube CSA1
Do you remember what training dates were offered to you?
She said there was the one slot so I just snapped it up. No mention of any other dates. I'm a CSA 2 applicant

I finally got my call yesterday with a start date of August 4th, my offer was September 4th last year - as you can imagine I am over the moon. Bit nervous to be leaving my job after 14 years but just thinking about my new TFL career gets me more excited than my current job could ever make me.

September offers should be getting calls very soon. Time to get my notice drawn up and handed in later today! Ironically I have 3 weeks holiday booked with my current job right before I start with TFL so a nice break before starting fresh!
Ayy Congrats!

Take a luggage. You may or may not get all of the uniform. But they do advise to take a luggage.
And you can always leave the empty case in the training room if it doesn't arrive on the 1st day.

I’m in early September, and I gave them a phone call last week. They told me they’re still working on mid-August, even though someone here already got their start date and they’re from early September.

Who’d you speak to? did they state their name?

My offer was 21st August. I was originally offered a 16 August start date but couldn’t take it. I’ve recently been given a start date on 1 September. When I spoke to the recruitment team they said there were dates for virtually every week in September and some in October. So I imagine it won’t be long for September dates to hear, as they’re wrapping up all the August guys and people like me who couldn’t accept the original date offered.

Anyone who’s already started, what was the dress code for day 1? Business casual like shirt and trousers or are we talking more like jeans, T-shirt vibes?

I can't speak with any authority, and I don't think the Trainers would say anything for 1 day, but I personally wouldn't do jeans and a t-shirt - it's maybe a bit too casual. Perhaps chinos and a plain shirt or polo as a minimum?

Got my contract and a few other documents through this morning for my start date of August 4th, it was so surreal seeing my name and contract on a TFL document and I can't express how exciting it is.

Just a few more days in my current job before I can finally be free and start my new career. Just a question about the uniforms for anybody who knows, I've read that it's recommended to bring a suitcase for the uniform but realistically how hard is it to carry the large box it comes in? I feel a bit strange taking a suitcase to Ashfield and was wondering if the box was manageable to carry home.

Well done on getting a date. I'm sure you're excited.

My uniform box, although a long time ago, was shaped like a large, flat screen TV box and was quite heavy and awkward to carry. It was much easier to take a wheeled suitcase. Of course your mileage may vary.

If you don't want to take a suitcase on day one I know some people will bring a large rucksack with space for enough uniform for the next day, and then make a decision whether to ferry it home over the course of a week or bring a large case in the next day, or indeed take the large box home. In my day you got two boxes and it was before training commenced, and whilst awkward I was able to get them home to Derby, where I was living at the time.

For the person asking about dress code for day one - 'smart business' is the usual term used. A plain t-shirt and smart, dark jeans would be acceptable for one day (albeit right on the edge of the dress code) but light jeans or a graphic t-shirt wouldn't, nor would tracksuit bottoms. Ultimately: it's your first day at a new job, and you want to make a good first impression. A full suit is overkill, but there is a need to be 'presentable'. Equally - for one day only you won't get too much grief, provided it is work appropriate.

I got my contract Friday as well, finally after waiting over a year lol. Personally I’m taking a duffle bag. A suitcase is a bit much for me so if I can’t fit all my stuff I’ll leave some and bring the duffle bag again the next day

What’s the policy on tattoos, like if you have neck or hand tattoos?

LU promote individuality and encourage diversity; many staff have tattoos and brightly coloured hair for example.

I had a look through the uniform wearer guide for you and it simply says:

"Tattoos likely to cause offence must not be visible."

Don’t know what you mean!

But yes first had experience that these are fine as long as they don’t cause offence. That is obviously a fine line, but I guess the baseline is that you’re in a customer facing role serving an incredibly broad demographic.

None of my tattoos are particularly ‘loud’ but I’ve never had issues (quite the opposite) even with my slightly risqué ones.

The initial month is generally Monday-Friday 9-5, yes - although you may be a bit more varied in week three which is spent on your station.

Once you pass at Ashfield House you will move onto shifts - it is imperative that you communicate any commitments at all to the training managers at the earliest opportunity. Allowances will be made for things pre-booked (you may have to provide evidence) but if you gamble on not being at work and don’t raise something you’ll be unlikely to get it off without resorting to unpaid leave or a black mark on your probation.
