London Underground £2 coin

I came across the left hand one of these in my change yesterday. 1st one I'd seen.

Congratulations!, that's one hell of a find. As far as I'm aware these were uncirculated and bought by people who were coin collectors.

Bet it's worth more than £2 on eBay!

They were in very limited circulation from a limited number of tube stations.

They seem to have been limited to begin with, but more in circulation after that. Perhaps there's loads in London?

A limited number of the £2 coins will be issued from selected London Underground ticket machines at stations including Kings Cross, Angel, Tooting Broadway, Northfields and Brent Cross. Larger quantities of the coins will be issued into general circulation later this year.

i have a few of these collected from change i have in my drawer got 2 framed in small little frames on display in the front room they are nice coins

Seen plenty of the 'Roundel' ones in Manchester, not so many of the train one.

I was given the train one in my change at Morrisons, in the same lot of change was the offside rule 50p! I like to keep all sorts of rare coins and probably have over £50 worth on display in my room.

A limited number of the coins were issued to many London Underground stations in January 2013 to give as change on the Poms and in the ticket office, before the larger batch went into general circulation later in 2013.

I happen to have one which I got in my change when I purchased a bottle of coke at the newsagents in Crowngate bus station a few months ago.

For the last 3 or 4 years I've always put any nice looking £2 and 50p coins into my little jar. I emptied it in March this year and my daughter went through them on ebay looking to see if any were worth anything more than face value.

Luckily we had a commonwealth games £2 coin with the Northern ireland flag and in pretty good condition, got £28 for it on ebay.

Only recently discovered a "tube" £2 coin but like it too much to sell it on.

I'm a bus driver in Exeter and someone paid for a ticket yesterday and amongst the coins was the tube train one. So I swapped it out and kept it! Must keep an eye out for the other one!

As a bus driver I see lots of coins and even in Devon I have managed to get both coins in the last few weeks. However they are the only ones I have seen.
