London Travelcard to Gatwick

On Sunday two of us need to travel from Penge East to Wembley and then to Gatwick.

We have a Two Together Railcard, along with a Oyster PAYG.

If I try and purchase this:


Out Sunday 28 Feb 2016
London Underground Zone 1-6 425 to Gatwick Airport GTW

Return Sunday 28 Feb 2016
Gatwick Airport GTW to London Underground Zone 1-6 425

the Virgintrains website prices it as £34.20 for two Anytime Day Return

If I enter East Croydon rather than GTW it prices at £16 for two Travelcards


What am I doing wrong? How can I get the ticket issued through to GTW at a cheaper price ?


For example, on Saturday 27 Feb 2016, I have purchased
Out Gatwick Airport GTW to London Underground Zone 1-6
In London Underground Zone 1-6 to Gatwick Airport GTW
Priced at £16 for two Travelcards

Sunday -

I was able to get this online for travel on Saturday

But I can't get the same website to allow me to purchase it for Sunday

Ah yes that is even cheaper, however I've heard of people having problems buying those fares online, so you may have to buy at a ticket office (or ticket machine, if you have a spare hour to wade through all the options and only if it's one of the machines which sells tickets from alternative destinations)

I was able to purchase online for Saturday.

i think i have got it...For Sunday it seems i need to purchase GTW-London Zone 1-6 return.

The Hull Trains website offers it for Sunday.

Yes, same fare both days.

London Zone 1-6 is always a destination. Starting short is permitted.
