London to Worcester Foregate Street

Five or so of us going up to Worcester FS [[stn]WOF[/stn]] on 12th Jan, returning the same day.

I have a network gold card ad one other has a YP card.

We would be departing from London.

I hear of all the split ticket chat and wondered if it was appropriate for such a journey?

Have you tried http://www.trainscanbecheaper.info/ ? Apparently you can save about a quid by splitting at Slough and Pershore!

I did not expect any saving at all, as the ticket prices via Evesham are very reasonable!

Does your Season ticket not cover any part of this journey?

Providing you go via Evesham, the journey is entirely within the Network Area so you can use your Network Gold Card so both of you can get a 1/3 discount.

You can use 3-letter codes on this forum, Trainscanbecheaper, booking engines, live departure boards etc, but they do need to be the correct codes, so I've edited your post accordingly

Hereford is not in the Network Area and why on earth would someone travel from London to Worcester via Hereford? It's not on a permitted route.

Sorry, yes, Sonic2009 is right, it's via Evesham. I was thinking of Hereford because that's another example I'm well aware of, where it's a lot cheaper to travel via Evesham.

London Midland offer cheaper fares (£22 return w/o railcard now, not sure about next year), although it does take about 4 hours each way.

If that doesn't put you off, LM are offering a discount on tickets at the moment. I wasn't able to get their web site to offer the LM only fare at all for that route, so I don't know how much it would cost.

I would suggest using GroupSave rather than a Gold Card discount if there are five people; the fifth can use the Y-P and therefore avoid having to stay within the Network area.
