London to Windsor return

Is there a ticket available that allows departing from London Paddington to Windsor & Eton Central and returning from Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo (or vice versa), valid for a day?

I haven't found any other solution than buying two singles (PAD>WNC and WNR>WAT) which is Quite expensive.

Are tickets issued to a named station or is there something like "Windsor Stations"?

There is no Windsor Stations group and a return ticket to one station is not valid to come back from the other.

There are a number of loophole tickets of various sizes but the railway expects you to buy two singles.

I've often thought about this and at some point need to ride Windsor to Staines line.

Could I, in theory buy an all zones travel card. From West Drayton (last Zone 6 station) buy a single to Feltham (first zone 6 station) and travel back to Waterloo?

Would the single ticket be routed via Windsor?

NRE certainly seem to think so. There's a route appearing West Drayton > Slough > WE Central > WE Riverside > Feltham. Then from there on in you'd be covered on a travelcard.

As someone who lives (well) outside of Zones 1-6, I am familiar with the travelcard from X to Zones 1-6. In the context of the current thread Slough to Zones 1-6 is also valid via the Windsor stations ( Slough - Feltham is an example). Is it valid starting at Paddington or any other Zone 1-6 station?

A Day Travelcard from outside the Zones is valid for travel once from the origin to the outer boundary of Zone 6, unlimited travel within Zones 1-6, and travel once from the boundary of Zone 6 back to the origin station.

Starting use of an "out-boundary" Day Travelcard at Paddington or any other Zone 1-6 station is allowed, but if this is done then rail travel from the origin to the outer boundary of Zone 6 is no longer available.

This ticket therefore has limited use in the scenario being discussed in this thread. As far as rail travel outside Zones 1-6 is concerned, the Slough to London Zones 1-6 Day Travelcard expires on arrival by rail at Slough. The Day Travelcard may, however, be retained on arrival at Slough because it remains valid on some local buses serving Slough operated on behalf of Transport for London.

On the other hand a Travelcard Season ticket Slough - London Zones 1-6 is much more useful because it is valid for an unlimited number of journeys within the period of validity of the ticket.
