London to Torquay

Does anyone know why I cannot get the 10.00 weekday departure from Paddington to Torquay to show up as a service or a fare on national rail enquiries?
Iwant to travel on it next week.
It will show if you type in Lon Padd to Swindon (then it shows the train terminating at Paignton)

Presumably because a faster journey opportunity exists on a later train with a change at Newton Abbot. The train shows fine on NXEC, and also on NRE if you select the 'only show direct trains' option .

Hi there,

I think it's simply because of the longer journey time, with the train running via Swindon and Weston-Super-Mare, making it far longer than the alternative connecting services via the Berks & Hants line.

If you look for "direct trains only", it should be visible.

This is because National Rail Enquiries displays only the fastest services from Origin to Destination.

The 1000 Paddington to Torquay service operates via Bristol and is therefore slower than later services out of Paddington that are booked via the Berks & Hants. The 1006 service from Paddington changing at Newton Abbot, for example, arrives into Torquay at 1252 as opposed to the 1000 service which arrives at 1335.

If you want National Rail Enquiries to display the 1000, you will have to click the "Only show direct trains" box before submitting your journey request.

I am hoping this train will be less full than the 10.06 - albeit slower!

you can also select the 'Include overtaken trains in journey results' option - that can be useful if you are trying to cut down the number of changes.

I wouldn't count on the train being less busy because it's slower, it also stops at a lot more places. (I have no experience of this journey, but have been disappointed before hoping that a slower journey would be less busy)

1000 will probably be quite busy as its the first service direct to Weston Super Mare. However yes, the 1006 is often full at Paddington.
