London to Newcastle

Good Morning. My cousin has asked me to help him book a ticket from London to Newcastle on February 26th late in the evening. On search engines it is showing no ticket availability for the 2047 & 2147 services from Kings Cross. Would this be because it’s not known yet whether this train would be affected by engineering works? It seems there are super off peak fares available for earlier trains.

Even if those trains are affected by engineering, presumably they would still run in some form, either by diversion or replacement bus?

I was just wondering if I took a punt and got him a flex super off peak single, he’d be able to use either of those trains even though it said no availability.

Yes; those trains are departing 13 mins earlier than normal.

Good luck that’s the League Cup Final day. Opptomistic Newcastle fans have booked the trains out, I’d travel another time if you can or wait until after the second leg of the semi final on Tuesday

What time's the KO in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday 26th February 2023? As long as the OP's cousin is sat on an appropriate northbound train at Kings Cross whilst the match is still in progress and hasn't come to a conclusion, can't see that they'd be caught up in any aftermath (unless you factor in Tottenham v Chelsea at 1.30 p.m.)

yeah kick off is yet to be confirmed but they expect 4:30 - unfortunately op said they need to travel late evening so these will probably be packed (if newcastle make it)

Most London bound trains on the 25 and morning of the 26th are full as are Northbound trains on the evening of the 26th and most of the 27th
