London to manchester over xmas

[knight2004]

Can anyone give me hints how to get a good value ticket on either the 22nd/23rd or 24th December from London to Manchester. Virgin online the cheapest i'm finding is 22 pound on the 24th. I am returning the 1st or 2nd of January.

Another option is for me to go London to Preston on the same dates going but preferably returning from Manchester after 14:00 NY day or anytime after 10:00 the second of January

Many thanks

Slower but cheaper:

London Euston - Stoke-on-Trent
Super Off-Peak Return route London Midland only £20

Stoke-on-Trent - Manchester
Off-Peak Return £12.90

Total £32.90

That's an interesting route thanks for that and not a bad price as well!
