Morning folks,

Just wondering would a London Terminals to Holyhead single ticket be valid to travel from London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street and then onwards from New Street to Holyhead via Crewe?

Yes, certainly.
Virgin set the Any Permitted fare (valid from Euston, Marylebone or Paddington): Anytime £164, Off Peak £96.60 (after 0905 M-F).
There are also specific Chiltern+ATW fares from Marylebone, as low as £79.40, but you will probably be routed via Shrewsbury on ATW.
There are also Advances via either route if you can fix your times.

If you intend to come back, the Virgin Off Peak Return at £97.60 is the most flexible - valid out from Marylebone and back to Euston if you wish.

It is valid, however the off peak isn't valid for break of journey, so if you were planning on stopping in Birmingham along the way for some reason it technically would not be allowed.

Also be aware that a return is only £1 more.

Thanks gents, I did think it was valid. Just wanted to make sure.

It is for a friend who is taking the slow way back to Ireland tonight. He has Priv hence no sail and rail He never had a 68 before so something different to get him northwards.

I see no reason why the OP's friend can't buy a half-price SVH on the Virgin website, together with a 'throwaway' Advance ticket, at the lowest tier, for some random journey in the opposite direction.

Cheap Chester/North Wales advances can be thin on the ground.
Nothing like the availability as on the Pendolino routes.
Partly it's to compensate for having less-restricted off peak fares, and partly with having less capacity on the Voyagers.

If the user is on the return leg of an existing off peak ticket there is no problem with routing back via Chiltern and Crewe.
