Hi, if I were to buy a standard off-peak return to Heyford from London would I be able to use the return portion starting from Oxford - meeting someone who's travelling along the canal and will end up there.

Seems like it should work as one possible route out is to change at Oxford but wanted to double check not going to get stuffed...

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes. All off-peak returns permit break of journey/starting short on the return leg.
The ticket might not work the gates at Oxford, but that doesn't matter, it is valid.
