London to Hereford

I am going to Hereford on Sat 28th and want
to get the direct train from Paddington that leaves after 4pm.
Can anyone tell me what type of train they use on this run please, as I want to bring my bike (which does not fold) and I need to know if they will require a reservation for it and if there is likely to be space.
Also whilst on here, is there likely to be any food/drink available on the train or should I get stocks in ?!

Basic advice is to get a cycle reservation.

Strongly advised to get a cycle reservation, for certain. There might be space but there's never any guarentee. Not sure if they charge for cycle reservations now but better to have one than to be turned away because it's fully reserved.

Think there's space for 4 or 6 cycles though.

Buffet car should be open a bit after leaving London and will be open until around Great Malvern if memory serves correctly. However you would probably do better to go to the Sainsbury's Local on the station and load up with some basic supplies just in case there's a staff shortage causing it to be closed throughout the journey (I've had that happen to me on that route once without supplies, can't say I was happy!) or if they don't stock anything you like. Probably a bit cheaper that way too!

Either way, I hope you enjoy your journey up to Hereford, it's quite a nice route.

As you are travelling the whole route, if the worst came to the worst, the front or rear powercar could probably be used.
