London to Glasgow

My wife and I will travel May 11 weekend.
Lucky me, engineering works north of Carlisle that weekend with bus substituted. The fare is eye watering, no specials.
Looks like we will have to travel via Edinburgh LNER.
Is there any way to buy a through ticket via Edinburgh these days?
With two heavy suitcases, is it easy to get around Waverly?

9am off Kings Cross to Glasgow Queen Street is £50.50 (advance, without railcards) with one change in Edinburgh Waverley as an example. All subsequent services the same amount.

Timetable not 100% confirmed though due to Network Rail shenanigans. Bustitution from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central so specify Queen Street.

Put via Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Edinburgh Waverley with cases will be fine if busy. You can prebook assistance if you need help due to mobility issues.

Last time I was on East Coast they only had a trolley service in Saturday.
Is that still the case?

Did this journey (in reverse) a few days ago and it was a breeze. Lucky to get to change between platforms without needing to use the bridges. Made a nice change from going back on the West Coast and the First Class (special occasion!) was much nicer (though weekday).
Had no specific seat reservations on tickets for Queen Street to Waverley and was allowed to use an earlier train to give more time to change so would think you don't have to worry about rushing to connect

Yeah i took a train 45 minutes before the one stated on advance as i was not chancing a ten minute connection at Edinburgh

Wouldn't it be easier just to fly at £57 each one way including hold luggage on the 11th May?

Either fly direct into Glasgow and get the dedicated express bus into the City Centre, or into Edinburgh and tram it to Edinburgh Park, then train to Queen Street.

Just too bad for us, but they do have to do maintenance sometime.

Train tickets in this instance are cheaper, more so once you factor airport transport costs

You could also purchase a Two Together railcard and get 1/3 off the fare. It's £30/year for the railcard, but it would pay for itself on the London-Glasgow trip.

Some restrictions attach to the railcard. Main ones being; both persons named on the card must travel together and it can't be used for travel before 09:30 Mon-Fri (except bank holidays).

This particular Railcard will pay for itself if you will buy more than £90 worth if tickets you can use it with in the next year, which you are likely to do in this trip alone (give the ~£50 each quoted upthread)
