Over the Easter weekend I would like to travel on a walk-up ticket from

  • London to Southampton
  • (going from Southampton to Bristol by car)
  • Bristol to London

Is this possible on an Off Peak Return to somewhere? Have Network Railcard.

If not, for London to Southampton is there still that special Barnham ticket which lets you travel via Clapham Junction?

Many thanks

I daresay there is such a ticket, but I doubt that it would be cheaper than buying separate tickets (singles priced by GWR to London are roughly half the return):

London-Southampton Off Peak Day Single Southern Only £19.10 (the flexible DaySave ranger is £18.50 but must be bought 3 days in advance).
Bristol-London Super Off Peak Single £32.50.
(total £51.60)

Alternatively, if you want to travel on the faster SWT services, I'd use:
London-Southampton Off Peak Return £28.90
Bristol-Reading Super Off Peak Single £26.40
(total £55.30)

You'll be going by bus for part of that journey as the line between Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway is closed over the Easter weekend:

From: http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/Easter.aspx#187188
Improvement works are taking place in the Southampton area on Saturday and Sunday.

The lines between Southampton Central and Southampton Parkway will be closed all day Saturday for renewal and maintenance work.

All lines in the Southampton area will be closed all day Sunday.

A limited train service will run between Eastleigh and Southampton Airport Parkway on both days.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were to also be engineering work on the London-Bristol route as well

Thank you.

I had not thought of the DaySave, or using part of the London - Southampton ticket from Reading.

Travelling Friday and Monday so hopefully not too many disruptions.
