London to Brighton interavilable tickets

I'm travelling London - Brighton at the weekend. Ideally I'd travel down from London Bridge (FCC) and return to London Victoria (Southern). However, the Any Permitted tickets are far more expensive than the Super Off Peak Returns available if you're happy to restrict yourself to one TOC. Are there any knacks to bring the price down on interavailable tickets? Perhaps buying to a station beyond Brighton on the Coastway route or splitting en route? Or is this such a popular route that these would have been thought of?

From my own experience Super-Off Peak is your best option, even if it does limit you to 1 TOC. You could get the Horsham service from London Bridge to East Croydon (Southern), then change there and get on a Brighton service which runs fast from East Croydon (also Southern). Then just get a direct service back to Victoria (Southern again).

Do you have an Oyster card, and if so would you be prepared to change trains at East Croydon [[stn]ECR[/stn]]? If so a return to ECR and a walk up & down the ramps there may be your best bet, especially if you are travelling around London when you're there?

Brighton - London Zones 1-6 [0035] Route: FCC Only.
Ticket type is "SUP OFFPK DAYTC" ticket code WRE.
Travel is permitted on any train at any time on Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays.


You must use FCC from Brighton to the boundary, so you must change at East Croydon for a Southern train to Victoria. On the return from London Bridge, you can take a direct train.

This is not useful as the OP is originating at London Bridge.

A cheap day return from Kentish Town to Brighton, route +Any Permitted would come in at £20.70, and valid via Victoria and London Bridge. This is cheaper than the any permitted ticket from London Terminals.
