Hi Rail Forum friends,
I want to find the cheapest ticket for some trips I need to make from London to Brighton and I would appreciate some pointers please. Details are:
- weekday trips
- always off peak
- return on same day
- ideal route is BKG to FMR (Barking to Falmer)
- don't want to avoid/skirt around London Zone 1 (I realise I could use overground to get to New Cross/Croydon but it will take far too long)
- I already have a Travelcard with GoldCard across London Zones 2-4
Previously, you managed to find me a route last year which was WGR to FMR (and as I had a Travelcard up to Zone 4, I could finish my journey to Barking without additional cost). but this year that same route seems much more expensive. That worked out cheaper than paying Oyster PAYG to London Bridge both on way out and on return, and buying just a straight return ticket from LBG to FMR.
Using brfares, I found some routes but I have forgotten the code to use for my Gold Card and the site doesn't show options, so I don't think I have found the right fares:
WGR-FMR Super Off Peak Return 13.80
(and with code NGC (is that right for my travelcard with annual gold card?) it comes up as 9.10, and I don't know if I can use on weejday?
BKG-FMR works out far more expensive 19.45. Its strange as its only one stop further and still Zone 4!
Gospel Oak to FMR - same as WGR price
From Limehouse, its also expensive.
Do you have any ideas on what ticket would work out cheapest? Thanks
