London to Amsterdam return

Hi all,

I'm hoping to travel to Amsterdam and back 15th-18th April. I've tried booking on both Eurostar and Raileurope but both websites say there are no tickets available for the return journey on the 18th. This is despite RealTimeTrains saying there are two direct services from Amsterdam to St Pancras on that date.

Is there any way I can get tickets for this trip? Do I need to wait for them to become available? Or should I give up and fly instead?

It lets me book Amsterdam to London on 18 April but at a high price (162.50 standard; almost as much as standard premier).

If you prefer not to fly, then depending on where you are based, there are ferries from the Netherlands to Hull/Newcastle; these would be viable options for me but if you are based nearer London, flying is going to be the best option.

Ah, I see now that there is that ticket available, but only if I reduce the number of passengers from 2 to 1. So this is a case of the tickets being sold out rather than not yet put on sale, I assume.

In that case we'll fly back instead.

Do they still do London to any Dutch station for around fifty quid ? (Involves local trains from Brussels).

18th April is Easter Monday. It is highly likely the trains are almost full.

It is also possible that there are engineering works between Brussels and Amsterdam and the timetable isn't finalised.

There are two rail-based options.
1. use Eurostar to/from Brussels, then the hourly InterCity service to/from Amsterdam. Not much slower.

2. use the overnight (or daytime) Stena ferry Harwich-Hoek with a through ticket from London Liverpool St. Very civilised IMO, even though you currently have to book the NS train separately (and Hoek to Rotterdam is now a Metro line).
