London Spotting

A friend and I ( we are both OAP's ) are planning to visit London for 2 days midweek in September on a spotting trip. I have only been to London once in many years and spent that at Stratford and St Pancras this time we will have a lot longer so we can be more ambitious. I need all the 590xx and 591xx Loco series so a few of those would go down well. I know Clapham Junction is not to be missed but where else do you recommend. Any of you guys have an itinerary to cover most stations and variety over 2 days. Your help very much appreciated.

Acton Main Line is usually a good place to see 59s (at some point during the day take a train from Acton Main Line to Ealing Broadway or vice versa as there might be some 59s in Acton Yard).

A train out of Paddington to Ealing Broadway will take you past Acton Yard. There's less services stop at Acton Mainline station than at Ealing. Willesden Junction, Gospel Oak and Stratford are all other locations with freight and the chance of a 59 too. The London end of platform 8 at Stratford will enable you to see most movements there. Do a search on this forum for Willesden Junction for info on the best spots (station vs footbridge).
