London Paddington - Exeter St Davids

Hello, maybe some of the wise people here could help me.

I am trying to book the above, leaving London Paddington on Friday the 18th March at 1803 and returning on Sunday the 20th.

I have a Network railcard and my partner has a Gold card. When I try to book the tickets via the Trainline, and via FGW the price is the same with and without railcard.

Now does this mean that a railcard cannot be used for either of these fares?

Any help would be appreciated.

Network Railcard discounts are not available on journeys outside the Netwrork Railcard area. Paddington to Exeter is outside this area.

Agreed that a Paddington - Exeter journey is not wholly within the Network Railcard area, and that is necessary to get a Network Railcard discount. But the slower Waterloo - Exeter service is wholly inside the Network Railcard area and Network Railcard discounts apply at the appropriate times.

I wouldn't touch the 18:03 on a Friday from Paddington though. It's usually full and standing. I'd wait and get the 19:45, it will also be cheaper as Super Off Peak tickets are valid.

It is, but only when travelling via Yeovil and Salisbury to Waterloo.
