London Overground TIS

Does anyone know:

1) Which TIS* do London Overground stations use? (North London Line stations, possibly Willesden Junction)
2) How to issue Rovers & Rangers on the TIS from Question 1? (I am assuming the staff member will have never needed to do this before!)
3) If there is an easier way to get a Rover/Ranger from a LO station, i.e. what are the best LO stations? The NLL ones? The ones on the ELL south of London Bridge? Any personal suggestions?

*For the uninitiated, stands for Ticket Issuing System, the computer program that lets the station staff issue tickets

You'll find that London Overground primarily use Cubic FasTIS (possibly except the ex-Southern stations, which may still use Shere SMART).

From the main journey input screen, they need to press "F1 (Products)" then I'm fairly certain it's F7 for Rovers (though it'll be obvious from the screen). Then it's a case of selecting the right Rover/Ranger, start date, class and any discount that may apply and hitting F1 (Issue) and either entering your name or an X, then F1 (Issue) again to drop the ticket into the basket.

Thank you, that is what I was hoping for - I know they claim not to be National Rail when it suits them but hopefully step by step instructions will let me get the ticket I need! Cheers

You need some tact here - some staff are very unhappy if you try to tell them how to do their job by giving TIS instructions (not just LO)

Well I won't start straight off by going "Press this, press that" - I'll just act like I was buying any other ticket and if they say they don't know how, "oh I had trouble last time but they worked it out in the end, they just..."

All ex Southern ELL stations were upgraded to Cubic FasTIS last year, LOROL for some reason haven't updated their Section 17 list.

I successfully bought a Merseytravel Saveaway from Dalston Kingsland a couple of weeks ago.

The ticket office man originally doubted his ability to sell the ticket but seemed to enjoy the challenge and managed to issue it. I tried to be as helpful as I could in identifying the precise ticket I needed but have no clue about the software used.

I really really do enjoy buying tickets in the wrong places.

I successfully bought a Merseytravel Saveaway from Dalston Kingsland a couple of weeks ago.

I've had them issued from Wigan Wallgate and Glasgow Central in the past, the look of utter confusion on the clerk's face is priceless!

I managed to get mine from Bushey after a fruitless attempt at Shepherds Bush where they laimed that yp and priv discounts were only available on day tickets as they insisted the rover was a season ticket. My travelling companion with priv doesn't have his still as the excellent clerk at Bushey couldn't get it to work unfortunately but I got my yp one

June 2013 was when this change happened. NLL stations had TRIBUTE previously or, in a few instances, went straight from APTIS to Cubic FasTIS.

For future reference, PRIV shows as "Staff Travel Card" in the FasTIS discount list, though not all Rovers and Rangers attract the discount.

Normally, I'd agree that you need to be very careful and possibly 'shop around' as it were.

However, if my experience of purchasing a GM Ranger from LO Stations is anything to go by, you can usually give them instructions by asking for the ticket you want receiving the blank look and then suggesting that they might try pressing F1 followed by F7 (or in my case, after saying that a few times "you see that row of function keys there? Yes, those ones, try the first one and then the seventh" - obviously; deploy the attitude test here!) and then tell them which code to input for the rover - or they could search through the drop down box.
