With the Lea Bridge to Meridian Water third track siding up the Lee Valley line now in operation is there any further scope for service improvements with the current infrastructure? There's been a huge amount invested in the four stations but the service feels like a botched job at the moment. Lea Bridge has trains on 5 different calling patterns northbound, you can only be sure you'll get to Tottenham Hale - not great for an urban station. And the much vaunted four trains an hour Stratford - Toteenham Hale disappears in the rush hour, when most needed. Meridian Water only has the shuttle trains at the weekends ( apart from the odd few on a Sat) which is when most people go to a certain Swedish furniture superstore just by the station beginning with I .
Anyway I was wondering could two extra pathways - Meridian Water to Cheshunt be created if these trains took the Northmuberland Park to Enfield Lock stops off Bishops Stortford / Hertford trains and they were speeded up appropiately. It would also be an oportunity to get rid of the current infuriating Enfield Lock or Waltham Cross skip -stop arrangement . You'd then have a proper regular inner suburban service which could more easily be taken over by Tfl at some point.
PS I know I've spelled 'Cheshunt' wrongly in the title byt can't see how to edit it!
