London Overground Conductor Line Manager Interview?

I have passed the London Overground tests and Competency Based Interview to become a Conductor and have been invited to attend the final stage in the Recruitment process which is an Interview with the Line Manager.

Could anyone that has been through this process or knows someone that has tell me what to expect in this Interview?

Congratulations on getting this far. They certainly make you sweat with those assesments and then the long waits in between don't they?

I passed all the assesments and did the line Manager interview for the trainee driver role but I believe it is a similar process.

I was told the Line Manager interview was quite relaxed and really just a formality so this is the only bit I didn't panic too much about....not so with LOROL. It is actually similar to the Structured Interview in that they have a form with a set of questions that you have to go through one by one and they write down your answer. Dont speak too quickly like I did because they cant keep up lol....you will find it is the Line Manager and the HR Manager taking the interview. They ask you things like, 'tell me what you know about LOROL''Have you ever had to deal with an emergency''describe a time when you gave good customer service'...etc.

I found that wowwing them with my knowledge of LOROL got me through. It is the only bit you can prepare for really.

I notice you had a line management interview a while back at Lorol, and I'm just wondering how long it took you to get a result back from them?

Hi worldlad, I got a call a few hours after the Line Manager Interview, good luck if you are going for it, read up about the company and be prepared for alot of questions relating to dealing with emergencies, dealing with orders passed down from management and situations when you haven't agreed with things that are passed down from Management as I found it much more intensive than the Structured Interview.

In the CBI I was asked to (If you can think of 2 examples for each question and put the one you feel is strongest but be prepared in case they ask you to give another):

Describe a time when I have had to follow Rules and Procedures- giving examples of what they were, why I had to follow them, how I felt about following them, what would happen if I didn't follow them

DESCRIBE A SITUATION OF WHEN YOU HAVE DEALT WITH AN UNEXPECTED SITUATION OR AN EMERGENCY? Giving examples of what it was, why you did what you did, how you felt, what would happened in the end?


Have you ever had to dealt with a big problem? How did you solve it? How did you feel about this?

The Managers Interview will involve much of same and additionally:

What do you know about London Overground?

Describe 3 Key Things that a Conductor does?

Describe Customer Service/Satisfaction in 3 words?

Describe a time when you have disagreed with a set rule passed down by Management?

Describe a time when you worked in a team? What did you do?

Describe a situation where you gave good Customer Service?

How would you get into work for 4am?

Have you done shift work before?

thank you for help. It was very help full. I checked ur reply little late but got enough time to prepare my mind for CBI which I did today. Now they said If I pass CBI LOROL will contact me.
