What are you blabbering on about mate - total word salad lol.

You keep trying to distract and divert - T&Cs, fare conditions etc. A company is responsible for its marketing too, because people make decisions based on the marketing eg prominent "Signature" wording in the journey list.

And the attempt to blame the customers is a delightful piece of PR: the luxurious use of metal cutlery has created snobs and lofty expectations of certain food...? Riiiiight. Definitely not the prominent "Signature" menu displayed on services in the journey planner?

Very entertaining post

I found the scone quite underwhelming, but the rest was quite nice even as someone who's not a big fan of quiches.

I sort of expected mini triangular sandwiches, and was quite surprised to see the tiny rectangular slithers, but I still think it was a good option.

Still rather have the toastie next time, though!

That's as good as you'd get on BA in Club Europe for an Afternoon Tea.

OP travelling Edinburgh to London so would expect another offering further down the line ?

probably better than BA at the moment, and yes, usually something else after York, especially if crew have changed en route...

Currently on 1E07 twixt Newcastle and Doncaster in a sparsely populated coach K. Pleasant, friendly and efficient service and a tasty full LNER breakfast.
Mind you, it’s obvious there’s a water shortage as the bottles are now 250ml, down from 330. Still, it’s “free”.

Was on a couple of LNER first class services in the last two weeks and I was struck by that "Chef-inspired" phrase, whatever it means.
And it seemed that from Edinburgh to Newcastle they could not be bothered to bring the cold drinks trolley around until after the hot trolley had come and all the food delivered and most people had finished their food.

Yes. The order in which things are served is odd. And presumably for some operational reason as opposed to logical ‘dining’ reason.

But hey it’s “free”

I could be reading too much into it, but it seems like the booze menu is stripped of all positive descriptions and with a rather prissy comment about serving one drink at a time. Maybe they've decided to send the cold trolley round less for the sake of our health.

New menus look decent overall

"Earl Grey and lemon choux bun 92 kcal" either the calories are a typo or that's tiny bun. Sad to see the current desert pot gone, it was my favourite

It's up to the crews.

The 1 drinks per time sign was there since the last menu. It was requested by staff to stop ungrateful buggers kicking off and exclaiming "but I got two last time!" when they have to ration down to 1 when it's busy. They can still use discretion though - so it's not an absolute rule, just a solid anchor point to set expectations.

Some people will still moan though, but then they'll not be the ones who will get the benefit of staff discretion in future. So it's a win-win.

So the in and out of East Coast/ Virgin days has officially been consigned to history?

"Chef-inspired" sounds like ChatGPT drivel.

Sounds to me like something i've been seeing for the last 25-30 years, especially since food related tv programmes blew up and the chefs involved became famous. Food ranges in supermarkets from these chefs were using identical speak ages ago, long before AI became mainstream.

I know that use of this style of hyphenation has increased substantially since the dawn of the AI era, but can’t profess to having paid these things much attention until recently - so you are probably right!

Makes sense. Don't think I've ever actually asked for more than one at a time anyway - it's more just something that happens when a crew don't fancy doing 2 runs. Just a bit jarring the way the menu goes from "delicious" this and "chef inspired" that to an extremely plain drinks menu.

Currently enjoying a full LNER veggie breakfast on board 1A10, 06 55 Skipton-Kings Cross. Usual friendly, informal, but efficient service from the excellent Leeds crew.IMG_20260918_080233.jpg

Quick question, see if you're on the same service from morning on the breakfast till the lunchtime menu for example leaving London at 8am and arriving at 2pm in Aberdeen is it possible to get 2 complementary meals like breakfast and lunch or are you still limited to 1 per journey?
