Hi All,
I applied in 2015 for Birmingham and I am still on the waiting list for my first assessment. I emailed a few days ago and LM confirmed my details remain on their pipeline and they have no more assessments for 2017, the next will be 2018 but they are unable to state when they will be.
I am hoping when the new franchise takeover, they will still want people like me, who were successful at application stage but have gone no further. I would imagine if the same people are becoming the new franchise, they may hold the same expectations for all of us. Train drivers jobs are so rare, especially for those who are applying completely externally, let alone internally. I sincerely hope the assessments do come round in 2018, regardless of who runs the franchise.

Hi RYDER. I feel your frustration however there are many story's on this forum demonstrating that it is a long process and it appears to be the norm. I'm also aware that things can and do change. For now I personally remain optimistic. If you take a look at the new franchise requirements it involves £1 billion worth of investment to include new trains, additional services, more frequent services and £13 million to be spent on training and development to name but a few. With this in mind I can only assume more drivers would be required to achieve all this. It would be interesting to hear if anybody out there in the know could confirm this to be the case?

I also remain optimistic, I am hoping they do need require new drivers, for many of us it is our ambitions. I will be looking forward to hear if anyone would shed some light on the new investment plans.
