London Midland tickets on Virgin (Sunday)

I just heard a rumour that 'London Midland are not running any trains whatsover this Sunday.'

But the ticketing websites still show them as running - if I buy a cheap LM only ticket to London, does that mean Virgin will have to honour it on Sunday? Or will LM pay for my hotel room on Sunday night ;)
