London Midland staff shortages

I believe that LM have less drivers than they put in the DA; the FD is an aggressive cost-cutter. DfT has powers to prevent staff shortages if they affect operation, but it hardly ever uses them, particularly at the end of franchises.

Basically, Govia have missed their performance targets and as a result they're washing their hands of the franchise. This coupled with the recent school holiday which is just passed creates this scenario.

We are told that they've ticked that box - got a load of trainees told to stay at home paid UFN because they don't have enough instructors, but the DA penalties don't specify productive drivers, just overall drivers...

Oh dear, that's a new one on me. My views on Govia were already very low, but that just managed to lower them further.

I'd place the DfT in the list of blame for not specifying "productive drivers" in the DA. I agree with you HH, Govia just go lower and lower.
