London Midland salaries?

Does anyone know the average salary for this role (ticket office) with London Midland: https://www.londonmidlandcareers.co...r - Ticket Office and Platforms (Speculative)?

I'd be interested to know in comparison to Virgin. PM if need be.

I would be wary of going for the job. They're cutting hours and won't need to recruit many staff. Traincrew get a good enough deal, but other staff have been chipping into this vacancy saying "apply at your peril".

West Coast south is the next recruitment area AFAIK.

Basic advertised for the most recent Euston vacancy was around £17 -18k, compared with £26973 for Virgin for the recent role at Euston. However, in general with Govia TOCs, you get various enhancements for location, unsociable hours, Sunday working and rest day working. Believe that with Virgin, there is also RDW. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter too much, when payday comes each month and after the taxman has had his cut there'll probably be around £200 difference between the two.

The benefits are good also. When I worked for one of the Govia TOCs, I had the staff pass which was worth 10x its weight in gold considering I'm based in South London and was allowed to use it to commute to college daily and go on capricious trips around the south east.

Certain stations are protected. Also consider that dozens of staff will have probably been promoted to conductors or drivers in recent weeks, leaving a shortfall of staff in the frontline station grades.

Regarding the "perks," seeing as Virgin offer most of their staff free travel also, doesn't that mean they can commute to/from work for free (providing it's with Virgin)? Which would allow someone who lives in Rugby to work at Euston?

Although I expect there to be an un-official rule too with Virgin and London Midland.

I looked at the roles, but the lack of details put me off somewhat. Then again, it could be a good position to get your foot in the door so to speak, then move on. But some TOC's prefer not to take on people from different TOC's as they want to train the new people their own way, or so I heard.

All depends where you live, what you really want and if you plan to use the extra stuff you get with the job.

Really? Virgin run fast services to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, Holyhead, Birmingham and London. That's a long list of destinations!

I assume Govia go as far as Bognor Regis and Dover.

I think he meant in terms of stations you could travel too, also using Southern, London Midland and SouthEastern.

the salaries, could be comparable to what Govia pay those ticket office & dispatch staff at their other TOC's, I reckon RJ is pretty close to being "on the money" (ahem) with his estimate..
eg dispatch at southern gets around £18K basic , according to a job being advertised on their site at the moment, ticket office last time it was advertised was about £20K basic, but as mentioned add in RDW, Sundays etc & it'll be more.
