Apologies, but as a matter of interest,what does WMDR, SILK, and class 92 mean?

Warning - if using a Great Escape on Saturday 2 November. There is engineering work north of Crewe from 17:15 onwards, with rail replacement buses operating instead of trains.

The rules were not particularly clear: with regards to going to Euston yesterday, I misunderstood the green shaded area on the maps - so ended up wasting an hour with a trip from Nuneaton to Tamworth and back to fill the time until I was able to travel down to Euston!

Anyway, I went down to London and visited the Transport Museum for the first time in years, went on the Emirates Airline (which was fantastic) and attempted to see the Siemens Inspiro tube muckup mockup but it was closed for maintenance. I also spotted at Stratford, Kings Cross, St Pancras and London Bridge. I was lucky I was on the ranger because my train off Euston (16:50) was delayed by 10 minutes (15 by Coventry) so I missed by Coventry to Nuneaton connection to get me back to Leicester via Nuneaton. With the ranger I could fill the hour gap between Coventry to Nuneaton trains with a trip to Brum International and return which I couldn't have done otherwise, so returned to Leicester an hour later than planned. Great day though, apart from the events of the evening!

I'm leaving the bits I still need to do in the West Midlands for a West Midlands Day Ranger, which are great value anyway, and allow me to travel between Nuneaton and Birmingham with CrossCountry which obviously I can't do on a Great Escape (so being from Leicester that is more convenient). I might invite one or two forum members to join me on that (I'm fed up of bashing alone) - PM me if you're interested.

Me and Class 92 went on the first train of the day out of Crewe to Euston and we were fine.

Has anyone else been on the supposed "peak" workings down to London? A few seem to have done and had no issue. Myself and starmill were on one the first weekend (alas on a WMDR due to a certain persons tardiness :P) and it most certainly was not overcrowded!

On Saturday I boarded the last restricted service through the Trent Valley at Rugby (1253 from Rugby), and this was full and standing through to Euston.

How DARE you! It was because of YOU complaining that you didn't want to leave Yorkshire before 08:00 that we ended up on such a late itinerary in the first place!

Plus, it would have been the first local connection had I gone from the local shack - lucky I didn't as it was cancelled!

Just noticed yesterday that you can get Network Railcard discount on Great Escape outside NSE area

Some advice pse. I have a voucher for tomorrow BUT wish to get a Network Goldcard discount. Nowwhere in the process to get a voucher does it ask about railcards, so do I just show my railcard, along with the voucher, to the ticket office?

Yes, just show the railcard at the ticket office. I did the same yesterday

Surely the ticket would become invalid once you travel outside the NSE railcard boundary.

London Midland have clearly explained that the Network discounted ticket is valid across their whole network. Quite a cool exception to the normal area boundary!
