150019 on the 06.15 Worcester - Stratford-on-Avon etc this morning.
150103 still at TS but had lights on and engine running when I passed at 8am.
150124 and 150107 were stabled on the same line next to it.

If they're the same ones there are in 150268-277 then they're very comfortable.

Yes I think they're the same. They are the original Ashbourne seats from when the units were built aren't they? The Scotrail 156s still have them too. I prefer them to Chapmans/Richmonds because they aren't too high backed.

You kind of sink into the seat like a comfortable mattress :D
Almost all the way down to the floor . My biggest bugbear with the seating on the LM 150s is that the seats are far too low, so that I end up with my knees crushed up against the back of the seat in front. The padding itself is quite reasonable though.

Really? I would have never made the association between the two: The original seating on the 156s looks, to my eyes, and feels completely different to that fitted to the LM 150s and 150268-277. Same manufacturer no doubt, but not the same design surely?

I much prefer the Northern Spirit refurb interiors of the 156s (I can't remember whether they are Richmonds or Chapmans) to the original style of seating. I could never get comfortable during longer distance journeys on units with the original seats, such as on my regular forays on the early morning Scotrail service from Newcastle, but I could settle into Northern Spirit seats very happily for quite a long duration.

Though the original Ashbourne seating is superior IMO to the other style of refurb seating as fitted to the North West and East Midlands 156s.

Of course one difference is that the 156s have armrests and the 150s don't. As far as I know they are both of the Ashbourne type though. It is a while since I went on a Scotrail 156, but I agree that they do have a different feel to them. 319s, 320s, 321s and 322s also have this type don't they?

What diagram is 150001 doing today, on Dorridge runs, i hope!
I caught the later train today so didn't manage to see what was on it but it's been out with 153364 on that diagram since Tuesday so I would say it is but don't blame me if Tyseley have swapped it :)

IS it basically on the Stourbridge Jn xx:25 from Stourbridge diagram then with the 153. So would it be on the 4:28 or 5:28 from Dorridge? Thanks

why is it that the diagram with a 150/153 is mainly always 150001 ??

that East Anglia 153 was ready to go from Tyseley again , i went past on the train at 13.55pm . its due out at around 2pm .

and 150103 is still sitting in track 1 sideing at Tyseley it been there 2 days and its engines are running ? its now boxed in by 2 other 150s .

Thanks. Shall go 150001 then at 5:28! I would assume 001 is usually with the phototype because it...ummm. Well, maybe due to it working at peak times and having more seats than a 150/1 can provide more seats in the peak. Or maybe it is just right to have the non standard with another type! Or, they just get on well together!

Never got there. Sadly, the bus decided to be about 20 minutes late and I don't have any lights for my bike. So, does anyone know what diagram 150001 will be doing tomorrow, if it is out?

I have been told on good authority that 150012 & 150015 will enter Tyseley over the weekend ready to be split next week, and 150018 & 150019 will enter Tyseley on Tuesday ready to be split next week.

150103 is due to go to Northern on Thursday, and the three units left to go to FGW have had there move cancelled with no rescheduled date.

Yesterday, 150018 was the only LM 150 out, on a Dorridge - Stourbridge Junction diagram. Glad I managed to do Solihull - Stourbridge - Moor Street on it :)

Standard Weekday use should be

1 for Marston Vale (other diagram a 153)
1 Spare at Depot
1 on a diagram involving a trip to Hereford (this is due to maintaing route Knowledge for swapping the units about)

Is there any major reasons why these units still need to run to Hereford?

Will the seven remaining 153's be allocated as follows:

1x Marston Vale

1x Nuneaton - Coventry

2x Snow Hill Lines

2x Chase Line

1x Spare at depot.

Or will the two Snow Hill units move to the Chase once two 170/6's start opperating on the Snow Hill lines?

I heard they were going on shrewsbury services?

Wouldn't there 75mph top speed be a poblem on the Birmingham - Wolverhampton section?

And it would be a bit pointless to put 75mph units on a line that Network Rail are planning to upgrade from 75 to 90mph in not too distant future.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
That line could do with 4 car 170's opperating in the off peaks, thus freeing up 170/6's for Hereford and Rugeley services.

Or would that require SDO to be used at some stations. I thought Billbrook station could only take 3 car trains. Correct me if I'm wrong.

2 x 153's attached to 170/5 on Hfds.
1 x 153 attached to 3 car 170 on Snow Hill diagram starting with 13.17 Worcs SH - Dorridge . Presume 1 marston vale + spare, 1 Nun Cov. Not sure about rest. Re 150001 a rumour circulated some years back that it would be claimed by NRM once it was withdrawn from service, would expect that to be a few years away yet as I can't see it or 002 staying at Eastleigh for long.

Well, 150s still hanging on. This mornings obs:
150105+124 on 07.09 Dorridge - Kidderminster etc
150109+107 on 06.45 Worcester Shrub Hill - Dortidge etc in place of normal 150/0+153 combo.
124 was a nice change from one of the "safe" LM ones (107 or 109). Although viewing the 06.45 from Worcester explained why .
The 06.15 Worcester - Stratford was 172342 so does mean 172331 or 332 has been delivered? This train was 150 all last week.

I haven't really been following the transfer situation, nor have I read the whole of this thread (in fact any of it), but there was one (150204) stabled at Harrogate this morning.

London Midland are retaining a total of three 150s (150105/7/9), one of which will be used on the Marston Vale diagram. There will be another on a (I think) Hereford diagram, with the third unit acting as spare.

1 Marston Vale
1 BHM-HFD
1 Spare

Does anyone know what services the 150 will operate on the Hereford Line?

Re 150 on Herefords, diagram is as follows;

06.28 Wos-New St,
07.19 New St-Gt Malv,
08.35 Gt Malv-New St,
09.49 New St-Hfd,
11.40 Hfd-New St,
13.49 New St-Hfd,
15.40 Hfd-New St,
17.59 New St-Gt Malv then ECS to Wos LMD.

If unit rquires swaping it will be attached to 22.35 ECS Wos LMD-Tys LMD,
with the replacement coming down to Worcester on the 22.10 ECS ex Tys.

All above worked by Worcs Traincrews.

Bletchley swaps takes place on a Friday night with Bletchley Driver to/from
New st & Worcs driver to/from Tys.

Yes Mon - Fri diagrams only.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
ECS move is DOO operated & if sets have been changed earlier in the week due to failures it may not run, so can't be operated as pass service.
