no dont know anymore about it yet,i did mention the date (2 august )a few posts back though.
i was told then it was a press day thing , today another driver tells me its from leamington to stourbridge same thing to do with the press and LM big wigs , thats all they know . and again august 20th was talked about has the start date for the proper service ,this was from the mouths of LM staff again .

one said ( the only thing missing from the 172s are the british leyland badge on the front ) !
172 331 -332 have ballast weight in them ,to make up for there not being any seats in them .

today , 172331 -339 were doing shuttle runs inside ty depot ,just up and down . 172341 was doing the sratford run 172332 and 2 others were idle in the depot.

guards are haveing there training ,the units are stopping at stations testing the doors on the straford turn . this is adding to the time it takes to do a return trip !

and talking to 2 guards, they say 2 units should be at worcester soon for there training between stourbridge-kiddy-worcester.

Yes it was 172338 which left Worcester Shrub Hill at 11:20 and went to Gloucester and back. Earlier it had arrived from the Hereford direction, but I cannot confirm if it had been all the way to Hereford, but I think that was the plan. 172337 is also currently at Worcester depot.

Those seats don't look too comfortable. :|

But on the other hand, it has a nice airy interior which makes it feel bigger, just like a 150.

They are 'Grammer' seats aren't they? As used in LM's Desiros. I wonder if there's been a change of subcontractor - as the normal one couldn't meet the dates?

No I think they're the standard ironing board seats as used by Bombardier in 377s, and in the refurbed 507/508s, I don't know who manufactures them.

The grammer seats have a straight but inclined back with the horizontal grooves, have 'chip' grab handles rather than doughnuts, and the square on the back of the seat is where the seatback table is usually affixed.

Same seats as used in the 3+2 seated parts of Class 377s.

Yep, Those lovely uncomfortable seats...As found in Chilterns 165s, LOROLs 172s and Southeasterns 375/9s...Still, i suppose there probably slightly better than the original, very little padded seats in the 150s there replacing!

I was told by a female guard that most of the staff are now past off on these sets!

How much longer do we have to wait???????

times for each are as follows:
339 @ Hall Green 11:39 > Stratford
333 @ Hall Green 12:15 > B'ham
339 @ Hall Green 12:16 > Stratford
333 @ Shirley 12:57 > B'ham
339 @ Yardley Wood 13:40 > B'ham

The seats look the same as the LO 172s, they are the same construction as the 377s/375s however they are considerably more padded.

Just had a text off a fellow enthusiast saying they believe they saw a 172 at LYE at 2129 (which would be the same time as the booked all stations local service to BMO. They say there was no 150 either side timings wise either side so must have been in pax service.

You sure it wasnt a class 170? havent seen anything on the other railforums and surely info would have leaked out by now if a class 172 was in passenger service.

I am sure there would be a few on this forum if they live very close by going to try and get a trip on it.

Let's hope he's right, but he may have seen a 3 car 170. It would not be the first time one has appeared on a late evening turn.

I don't know as wasn't there I'm only going by a text off a fellow enthusiast who was on 1K57 at the time. Tbh I wouldn't mind it if it was on there! (seeing as I'm not far from a snow hill line station myself like a few others on here!)

At 15:21, a LM Class 172 came purring through Dorridge at a high speed. My Dad said he liked them and I could finally prove to him they weren't gathering dust at Tysely. It was 172332 on its way to Leamington.
